The Author of Peace

Isaiah 9:6, (NKJV)

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Galatians 5:22-25, (NKJV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:13-17, NKJV)
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having demolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to created in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.  And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near.
Ephesians 6:15, (NKJV)
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Philippians 4:7, (NKJV)
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Colossian 1:19/20, (NKJV)
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
My Comments: Much is made of the word and concept of peace. Countries, families, friends all talk of “peace” and how it can be achieved. Countries want the other country or countries to give up their way of being so that peace can be achieved. “Don’t bomb us and we won’t bomb you” kind of mentality. “Treat your people like we think you should and we won’t sanction you.” All kinds of things are said to each other and the bottom line is there really in no peace as both are always waiting for another “shoe to drop.”
Families say to each other “I love you as long as you do not step on my toes,” kind of mentality. The don’t do or say anything to disrupt the boat treatment of many families or meet our expectations and we will have peace in the family. The same is pretty much the same with many friends. That is worldly peace and it does not last nor does it help anyone to live peacefully.
The peace, that Jesus brought by dieing on the Cross is, a deeper, more lasting peace. It is the peace between God and man. Mankind sinned. Mankind walked away from God and chose to do “their own thing” and that included, murder, slander, abuses or substances, lies, fornication, adultery and on and on. It still goes on today.
When someone comes to Jesus and confesses their sins and accepts the gift of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, the gift bought with His own blood, the gift of life eternal then they are filled with the peace of God that none can understand because it is a river flowing from Him. We are to seek this peace.
Yet many seek after the peace the world says is peace. If they were to come to God they would have lasting peace. If families would seek this peace they would have lasting peace. If friends sought this peace they would have lasting peace. Why?
Because God’s peace though incomprehensible is true and when one is truly a Child of God one seeds to be at peace no matter the trials or tribulations of this world. Christ Jesus, sought peace with all, wherever He went. We who have Him as our Savior seek peace.  He told the truth, walked in Love, had righteous anger when His Father’s house was profaned and left situations when people were going to harm Him. He never retaliated. And on the Cross as He was dieing, bruised, whipped, Crown of Thorns pushed into His skull, dieing on a tree of shame, He still did not retaliate. Instead he cried out, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do.” He still loved them. He still loved us when we walked our own way and rejoiced when we came to Him who is peace and the way of peace.
I have been asked why I can be so joyous in hard situations. How can I find peace in trials and tribulations of which I have had since I was a small child? It is a peace from God the Father and I understood that peace when I accepted Jesus as my Savior. I forgave all who had harmed me and wrapped myself in His peace. If you have not then I pray you will turn to Him, heartily confess your sin and call upon the name of Jesus so you will be saved and find true and lasting peace in Him.
I am not saying that I have not had times where I cried or prayed harder to understand what I needed to do in situations that cause pain and suffering, I did and do, yet even in those times there is an inner peace as long as my eyes are on God and I allow the Holy Spirit to do His work in me.
Do not confuse His peace with what the world teaches. It does not mean you will not have trials and tribulations. All do. It means as long as you keep your eyes on Him you will have Him with you through them and you will become stronger because of Him and you will find peace in Him in the storms of life.
Abba Father, fill us with the peace of Your Son who You sent to redeem all of us. Help us to keep our eyes on Him who is the Prince of Peace and fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we will be peace wherever we go. In Jesus name, in union with the Holy Spirit, I pray. Amen
