Romans 10:1-13
Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. 2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. 3 For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
5 For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness. 6 But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), 7 or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (The capital areas within sentences were put in for emphasis and are not what would be found in the Bible. They are just to help people see the importance of what is being said here to all of us. The same is true for the italicized world.) ESVMy Comments:
This last week my heart has been hurting for those who do not know the Lord Jesus and have not become the adopted Children of God. God never promised us that when we take up His yolk that our burden would be gone yet He did say it would be lighter and that is because He helps us carry our burdens as we let Him.
How do I know this? Well, I have lost two children, parents (all four), Grandparents (all), almost all my Aunts and Uncles, Mother and Father-in-Laws, Sister-in-Laws, friends and cousins and last October my friend and husband went home to be with our Lord Jesus. I have been beaten, raped many times, rejected by family and hurt in numerous ways yet through all of it I know the Lord was there with me. I praise Him for His faithfulness, comfort and strength when I am weak and am never alone because He is with me even and especially in the hard times. He wants to be your strength and comfort. He is faithful to keep All of His promises. And He promises salvation to All who call on the name of Jesus and confess their sin to Him, believes on Him and accepts His sacrifice and believes in His resurrection from the dead after three days in the grave.
Loved Ones I pray you will turn to Him and ask Him into your heart and life. Believe on Him and you will live forever with Him as the adopted Child of God. Those who accept His free gift of Salvation and Justification will reign with Him on the New Earth. He is the only Judge and He justifies us when we accept His free gift of Salvation. Now it just does not get any better than that Loved Ones. Once we accept His free gift we then immerse ourselves in His Holy Word found in what most people call the Bible. If you do not have one you may read it online (biblegateway.com is one such place).
There are good versions of the Bible and ones people call "easy reading" or paraphrased versions. Ask the Lord to open your eyes and stick with a good version. The New King James Version, The English Standard Version, The American Standard Version are very good versions and the last two are easier to read. All understanding comes through the Holy Spirit of God who is part of the Triune God. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the Spirit is given to mankind to guide us in knowledge and understanding of the Word of God. All Scripture speaks to the Son who is fully God and fully man. So read and do not get discouraged. Call on the Holy Spirit every time you read the Scripture and He will open your eyes and your heart and fill you with His very presence. You will not be disappointed and He will be with you always through everything you go through and experience and will be your strength and comfort always.
Abba Father, thank You for the freely given gift of Salvation and the Sacrifice of our Lord Jesus the Christ, Your Son, who You sent to us so we could be Your Children. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your Word. We confess Lord that we are sinners in need of Salvation and desire You to come into us and be our Lord and Savior. We affirm you were born of a Virgin, died on the Cross for our sin, and raised from the dead on the third day and because You went to Heaven we can too. Accept our life as Yours and be our strength and comfort as we go through the hardships of life, be our Joy and Blessing as we celebrate new life in and with You. We give our lives to You as You gave Your life to and for us. Thank You Jesus for the gift of eternal life. Amen
