The Life made manifest. 1John 1:1-10, 2 Chronicles 34:1-33, Psalm 89:19-42
1 John 1:1-10
The Word of Life
1 That which was from the beginning, which we
have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have
touched with our hands, concerning the word of life-- 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen
it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the
Father and was made manifest to us-- 3 that
which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have
fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his
Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing
these things so that our joy may be complete.
Walking in the Light
5 This is the message we have heard from him and
proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we
walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the
light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son
cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we
have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a
liar, and his word is not in us.
Josiah Reigns in
Judah
1 Josiah was eight years old
when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. 2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the
LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father; and he did not turn aside to
the right hand or to the left. 3 For in the
eighth year of his reign, while he wa33s yet a boy, he began to seek the God of
David his father, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem
of the high places, the Asherim, and the carved and the metal images. 4 And they chopped down the altars of the Baals
in his presence, and he cut down the incense altars that stood above them. And
he broke in pieces the Asherim and the carved and the metal images, and he made
dust of them and scattered it over the graves of those who had sacrificed to
them. 5 He also burned the bones of the
priests on their altars and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem. 6 And in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, and
Simeon, and as far as Naphtali, in their ruins all around, 7 he broke down the altars and beat the Asherim
and the images into powder and cut down all the incense altars throughout all
the land of Israel. Then he returned to Jerusalem.
The Book of the Law
Found
8 Now in the eighteenth year of
his reign, when he had cleansed the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son
of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz,
the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God. 9 They came to Hilkiah the high priest and gave
him the money that had been brought into the house of God, which the Levites,
the keepers of the threshold, had collected from Manasseh and Ephraim and from
all the remnant of Israel and from all Judah and Benjamin and from the
inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10 And they gave
it to the workmen who were working in the house of the LORD. And the workmen who
were working in the house of the LORD gave it for repairing and restoring the
house. 11 They gave it to the carpenters
and the builders to buy quarried stone, and timber for binders and beams for the
buildings that the kings of Judah had let go to ruin. 12 And the men did the work faithfully. Over
them were set Jahath and Obadiah the Levites, of the sons of Merari, and
Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to have oversight. The
Levites, all who were skillful with instruments of music, 13 were over the burden-bearers and directed all
who did work in every kind of service, and some of the Levites were scribes and
officials and gatekeepers. 14 While they
were bringing out the money that had been brought into the house of the LORD,
Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the LORD given through
Moses. 15 Then Hilkiah answered and said to
Shaphan the secretary, "I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the
LORD." And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan. 16 Shaphan brought the book to the king, and
further reported to the king, "All that was committed to your servants they are
doing. 17 They have emptied out the money
that was found in the house of the LORD and have given it into the hand of the
overseers and the workmen." 18 Then Shaphan
the secretary told the king, "Hilkiah the priest has given me a book." And
Shaphan read from it before the king. 19 And when the king heard the words of the Law,
he tore his clothes. 20 And the king
commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan
the secretary, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying, 21 "Go, inquire of the LORD for me and for those
who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that has
been found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out on us, because
our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is
written in this book."
Huldah Prophesies
Disaster
22 So Hilkiah and those whom
the king had sent went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of
Tokhath, son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in
the Second Quarter) and spoke to her to that effect. 23 And she said to them, "Thus says the LORD,
the God of Israel: 'Tell the man who sent you to me, 24 Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will bring
disaster upon this place and upon its inhabitants, all the curses that are
written in the book that was read before the king of Judah. 25 Because they have forsaken me and have made
offerings to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works
of their hands, therefore my wrath will be poured out on this place and will not
be quenched. 26 But to the king of Judah,
who sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus shall you say to him, Thus says the
LORD, the God of Israel: Regarding the words that you have heard, 27 because your heart was tender and you humbled
yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and its
inhabitants, and you have humbled yourself before me and have torn your clothes
and wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the LORD. 28 Behold, I will gather you to your fathers,
and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not see
all the disaster that I will bring upon this place and its inhabitants.'" And
they brought back word to the king. 29 Then
the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. 30 And the king went up to the house of the
LORD, with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests
and the Levites, all the people both great and small. And he read in their
hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the
house of the LORD. 31 And the king stood in
his place and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to
keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all his heart
and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this
book. 32 Then he made all who were present
in Jerusalem and in Benjamin join in it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did
according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers. 33 And Josiah took away all the abominations
from all the territory that belonged to the people of Israel and made all who
were present in Israel serve the LORD their God. All his days they did not turn
away from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
19 Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: "I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. 20 I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, 21 so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him. 22 The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him. 23 I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him. 24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted. 25 I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers. 26 He shall cry to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.' 27 And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. 28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him. 29 I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens. 30 If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules, 31 if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments, 32 then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes, 33 but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness. 34 I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips. 35 Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David. 36 His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me. 37 Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies." Selah 38 But now you have cast off and rejected; you are full of wrath against your anointed. 39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust. 40 You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins. 41 All who pass by plunder him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors. 42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice. 43 You have also turned back the edge of his sword, and you have not made him stand in battle. 44 You have made his splendor to cease and cast his throne to the ground. 45 You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah 46 How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire? 47 Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man! 48 What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah 49 Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David? 50 Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations, 51 with which your enemies mock, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed. 52 Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.

My Comments: Today a gentleman asked my hubby and I, why there are Old and New Testaments. Then when my hubby told him that the Lord Jesus is talked about in both and from the beginning of time. He asked if it said it in the Bible we read. We affirmed it does and He is throughout the Bible from the beginning to the end.
The Apostles wrote most of the New and it was about the Gospel and shows the early years of what we call Christianity of followers of Jesus the Christ (Messiah). Yet Jesus spoke in many places and was spoken of in the Old and New Testament. There are those who call themselves Christians and yet do not understand we are not saved by works we are saved by the acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus and that is a free gift where He takes away our sins and we become His and are thereby children of the one God and coheirs of the Kingdom. It is done simply by saying "Yes" to Jesus. Then following Him. You don't have to get your life fixed first that's a work based belief and is contrary to all that Jesus and the Apostles taught about Jesus. We do not have to go to a priest to confess sin we go to Jesus and He cleans us. We do not have to pray using beads or doing repetitive prayers, we just simply say with faith, to Jesus we want forgiveness and we want Him. Done!!
In the Old Testament we see sacrifice of the blood of animals to cover sins of the people for a year. It had to be repeated. With Jesus we have done it one time and it is finished. We take it to Him and He has already paid the price and He was the only one who could. Only God is able to take our sins on Himself once and for all. We just have to accept this sacrifice to be made righteous. We are all born sinners and we have a sin nature were by we sin and we need a redeemer. Jesus is the redeemer. He is the intercessor between us and the Father because He has taken on our sin. There is no other intercessor between us and our Abba Father only Jesus the Messiah the Son of God and our Redeemer.
David sinned yet he knew God and loved Him and when his sin was pointed out to him, he fell before the Lord and confessed and walked before the Lord again. He was loved of God. We too can walk upright before the Lord and have a relationship like David and Abraham if we go to Him through His Son Jesus.
Then God will be with us. He will be our Rock and have His hand on us. Now my prayer is my children and Grandchildren will follow the Lord. Hopefully by watching my hubby and I they will turn to the Lord and walk upright all the days of their lives with God. I pray daily for their salvation. May all of you and your descendants walk upright with the Lord. Amen
Abba grant the grace of seeing and hearing, knowing, understanding, receiving and accepting the grace of Salvation to all who read Your Word and all their descendants forever. Father we offer You our lives to use as You want. May our lives be pleasing to You and bring light and water into a dark and thirsty world. May the Bread of Life be seen in our lives as a dedication to You. Keep Your Hand on us and our lives, be the Rock of our Salvation and Hide us under Your wings. Help us to purge from our lives all idols that separate us from Your love and complete relationship with You. May Your life be made manifest in us so others will live because of You. We praise and worship You and pray our lives bring glory to You always. In Jesus Name we thank You and place our lives in Your hands. Amen
