Foolishness and Wisdom

Psalm 14:1 The Holy Bible, New King James Version Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson, Inc. (NKJV)

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.” They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.

Daniel 2:20-21 (NKJV)

20 Daniel answered and said:
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. 21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

Isaiah 29:14 (NKJV)

14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”

Proverbs 12:15 (NKJV)

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.

Matthew 5:22 (NKJV)

22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

Matthew 12:37 (NKJV)

37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Titus 3:3 (NKJV)

For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

Proverbs 9:6 (NKJV)

Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding.

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 (NKJV)

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks[b] foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

1Corinthians 2:13-16 (NKJV)

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy[a] Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
My Comments: Though the New Testament cautions us to call none Raca which means fool there are Scripture that tell us what a foolish way to live is and what wisdom is. The fool says in their heart, “There is no God.” And a wise man believes His word and follows after Him and experience Truth and understanding.
A wise person realizes they need God and Salvation because they are a sinner who is broken and they need a relationship with the God of the Universe and can only have that by going through Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for our sins, for us sinners. The truth of God’s word brings us to the understanding that we are all sinners and this leads us to repentance, acceptance of Jesus and a relationship with Abba Father and a filling of the Holy Spirit. But none of this happens until we are broken and willing to forsake the foolishness of the teachings of the world and accept the Righteousness of the Salvation of Jesus and walk in the way of understanding in wisdom.
Abba Father, open our hearts to your truth and give us Your understanding that we may be wise in Your truth. Help us to know Your and all follow all You have for us to know that we may be wise in our relationship with You. For those who do not know Your wisdom I pray their hearts be opened and all barriers be removed for them to reject the wisdom of the world and receive Yours through the Righteousness of Your Son Jesus the Christ who lived and died for all on the Cross. I pray all will be filled with the Holy Spirit and know Your Truth, understanding and wisdom and walk with You all the days of their lives, our lives. In Jesus name in union with the Holy Spirit, I pray to You Father God. Amen.
